I developped it on my own, doing all the design, balancing and card creation works. My expansion was authorized for free diffusion by the publisher (as all fan made expansions are).

A MDA approach to systems design
I first analyzed the base game dynamics and design principles to understand its functioning. 7 Wonders is a turn-based game where players play one card from their hand each turn, and one a card is played it stays in place until the game ends.
The resulting dynamic is a steady accumulation of points throughout the game. My expansion aims to create more variety in turn-to-turn situations, using bursts of value or temporary modifiers.

To achieve this vision, I started from the mechanics already in the game. I created variants based on them. This ensures my expansion uses an interaction vocabulary very close to the base games one.

Same goes for content! I researched for historically fitting buildings, leaders and customs.
Balancing
For balancing, I used a similar approach : analyzing how the base game was balanced then defining how my expansion would affect that balance. I also monitored playsessions data.

Rules & printing sheets
To write the rules, I strictly followed official expansions rules structure. 7 Wonders : Customs is only available in French at the moment.
